Why It Matters
Pressure Washing Alone Isn't Enough
Most people assume a hard blast of water is the best way to clean a home's exterior. But pressure washing alone can't kill the mold, mildew, and algae that are actually living in your siding - it just rinses the surface. Within weeks, the growth comes back.
Soft washing is different. We apply a low-pressure biodegradable cleaning solution that kills organic growth at the root - mold, algae, mildew, lichen, and bacteria - then rinse it away cleanly. The results last significantly longer, and the process is safe for all siding types including vinyl, LP SmartSide, fiber cement, stucco, brick, and painted wood.
Minnesota's climate is particularly hard on home exteriors. Freeze-thaw cycles, spring pollen, summer humidity, and fall debris create ideal conditions for growth. An annual soft wash keeps it in check and protects your investment.
Siding - All Types
We clean vinyl, LP SmartSide, fiber cement (HardiePlank), stucco, brick, and painted wood. Our solution is safe for all exterior siding materials.
Pre-Treatment for Heavy Growth
Homes with heavy mold or lichen buildup get a targeted pre-treatment application before the full wash to ensure complete removal.
Biodegradable Soft Wash Solution
Our cleaning mix kills mold, algae, mildew, and bacteria at the root - not just on the surface. Results last longer than pressure washing alone.
Porch Ceilings & Overhangs
Covered porches and entryways trap moisture and grow dark algae streaks. We hit every covered surface for a complete clean.
Soffit, Fascia & Trim
The areas under your roofline collect more algae and spider webs than anywhere else. We clean soffit, fascia, and all trim as part of every wash.
Flexible Scheduling
We work around your schedule - early morning, evening, or weekends available. Most exterior washes are completed in 1-3 hours with no prep required from you.
Why Soft Wash, Not Pressure Wash?
What we do
Soft Wash
- Low pressure - won't damage siding or paint
- Biodegradable cleaning solution kills growth at the root
- Results last 2-3x longer
- Safe for all siding types
- No risk of water intrusion behind cladding
What We Don't Use on Siding
Pressure Wash
- High pressure can crack, chip, or force water behind siding
- Removes surface dirt but doesn't kill mold or algae
- Growth returns quickly - usually within weeks
- Can void some siding warranties
- Not recommended for painted wood, stucco, or older homes
Note below: We do offer pressure washing for hard surfaces like driveways, sidewalks, and patios - but for your home's siding, soft wash is always the right call.

Common Questions About Exterior Home Washing
What is soft washing and how is it different from pressure washing?
Soft washing uses low water pressure combined with a biodegradable cleaning solution to remove mold, algae, mildew, and dirt from your home's exterior. Unlike pressure washing, the cleaning is done by the solution - not the force of the water. This means it's safe for all siding types and the results last much longer, since the organic growth is killed at the root rather than just rinsed off the surface.
Is soft washing safe for my siding?
Yes. Our solution and low-pressure delivery are safe for vinyl, LP SmartSide, fiber cement (HardiePlank), stucco, brick, and painted wood. We adjust our approach based on what your home has. If you're unsure, just mention it when you request a quote.
Will the cleaning solution hurt my plants or lawn?
We take care to wet down your landscaping before and after the wash to dilute any overspray. Our biodegradable solution breaks down quickly and is not formulated to harm plants when properly diluted. We've washed hundreds of homes across the metro without plant damage.
Do I need to be home for the wash?
Not necessarily. As long as we have access to the exterior of your home and a water connection (outdoor spigot), we can complete the job without anyone home. We'll confirm the details when we schedule.
How long does an exterior home wash take?
Most homes take 1-3 hours depending on size, siding condition, and the amount of organic growth. We'll give you a time estimate when we quote the job.
How often should I have my home washed?
We recommend once a year for most Minnesota homes. Homes surrounded by trees, in shaded areas, or with north-facing walls that stay damp may benefit from more frequent cleaning. Annual washing keeps growth from embedding into the siding material, which is much harder (and more expensive) to treat.
What about my windows - will they get dirty from the wash?
Some overspray can land on windows during the wash. We recommend bundling your exterior home wash with our window washing service so everything is cleaned the same day. Ask about discounts for multiple services.
